More in Sign Language!

Jay knows the sign language for "more" now.  I taught it to him, now I wonder if he'll unlearn it.  It's more this and more that, not just food.  But, yeah, mostly for food.  The boy can eat.  It's pretty cool for him though because he knows I know what he needs.  I'll have a video eventually but right now, when I pull the camera out to record him doing it, he stops.  Stinker!

He knows and does the sign for milk and knows when I do the sign for eat (but he let's me do it, when he wants to eat he just does the more sign).  :)

Sippy Cup Victory over the Bottle

We love the Olympics in our house.  We try to watch each night (except when Lost is on, there are priorities).  This week Jay has been competing in his own event of "No More Bottle, per Doctor's Instructions".  The cleft doctor wants him off the bottle before his surgery because the nipple is too long and will rub against his new palate and stitches after surgery.  Currently the surgery is not officially scheduled but we are planning for someday during the week of April 12.

So we started with water in the Nuby brand (soft "spill" proof nipple).  He got used to that but wouldn't hold it.  We needed to get him off the morning and evening bottle of milk or formula and put his milk in the sippy.  We was none too happy about this development.  Us trying to hold the sippy cup while he tried to bat it across the room went we were doing this for an hour.  That was not gonna do it.

After a few days of him not finishing the 8oz of milk, I put him in is high chair for the second round of the Sippy Cup event of Olympics de Manza.  He really pulled out all the stops and really gave it everything he had and even held the cup himself and he left the high chair with a Silver medal (sippy cup?) for his efforts.  Last night he took the challenge again and he made the cut and finished number one but he still had another round to go (don't you wish Bob Costas was narrating instead of me?).

So this morning, fresh after a good nights sleep, he really had all the form and function of an 18mos old!  He finished the milk in record (sippy cup) time and stood atop the podium (carpet) with Gold! U.S.A.!  U.S.A.!  [Cut to gleaming parents in the bleaches with snow hats on that say "Go Jay"]

The highlights are not on NBC but can be found at the following link:  the first two videos show his skill and triumph.  Links:  Day One and Day Two

He would like to thank his family and friends, his coach (Shades) and his sponser (Nuby).

Hugs to everyone!

Killeen Baby Shower

We had a great time in Killeen on Sunday at the party for Jay.  Thanks to all our friends and family who came in and to the hostesses for organizing a nice event.  Jay was sacked out after because he didn't get a nap all day.  He was a good boy though, not cranky like I get!  :)  Hugs.

Jay in his new "Go Army" Nikes (only because they are black and gold)

Jay wrapped up on a cold day after the shower.

Jay in his cute overalls from Aunt Mitzi. He wouldn't sit up and still so this is it for overall pics.

Pic from the shower (cool shirt on him right?!) He's doing something weird with his mouth though instead of smiling.

Lady Bird Lake

Taking a jog around Lady Bird Lake again and having a break. Such a pretty day.

Certificate of Citizenship

It's official (once daddy signs it)!!  Proof of citizenship.  It came jammed in our apartment mailbox today.  Now we can start processing for Social Security numbers, passport, re-adoption and US issued birth certificate.  The paperwork for this process is never ending.

We also went for a jog.  It's the first time I've actually jogged with the jogger stroller my sister gave us.  I had Maddie in the basket underneath because she can't run with me anymore and Shades ran on his leash by my side (he's a good boy!).  Jay just chilled and watched everybody.  It was soooooooooooooooooo pretty outside you would NOT believe.  Temperature was mid-60's and so sunny I think I may have a little too much sun on my face.  We all loved being outside after it being so cold the last few days.

Tired Maddie

Maddie dog is tired from avoiding Jay. He's become more interested in the dogs and he can crawl FAST. So they move around a lot. Just when they get settled on a warm spot on the floor they have to move again. Poor babies.
