Imagine No Malaria

It was another beautiful day in Austin, makes for a fantastic weekend.  We went to the "Imagine No Malaria" day held on the Texas State Capitol grounds.  We saw the end of the Graham Wilkinson show and heard Jars of Clay too.  It was a great day with friends and we were grateful to not have to worry about bugs carrying diseases trying to kill us.

And the whole thing wiped big Jay out.  He missed his nap but he grabbed it on the walk home.  :)

Starting

Jay's post-op appointment at Dell went fine.  It was a pretty quick look just to be sure his stitches were doing okay and he was healing well.  He can move to soft foods now, so he'll be happier about meals.

He has a followup today with his ENT and in 2 weeks with the last one.  He is doing great and starting eat and drink better.  The speech therapist started with him on Monday and so we're practicing blowing.

Yesterday we sat on the balcony and blew bubbles, well, I blew bubbles.  That was fun, we'd never done that before.  It was a long day yesterday but he took a while to go to sleep.  When I went to check on him after he quieted down he was all curled, feet stacked with booty in the air asleep.

Post Surgery

Almost a week ago Jay had a full battery of surgery.  Although I know it's better to do it all at once, it really wiped him out.  All the pain medication just put him in a fuzzy haze and we didn't see the real Jay for several days.  I'm happy to report though that all surgeries were a success and he is feeling much better.  He's learning to swallow again and that's a little weird for him but he's starting to catch on.   Mostly because he's hungry (this guy can put away food!!).  He'll have lots of followup appointments and then he should be good for a while.  He and the pediatric dentist will become very close over the years. He'll require lots of fiddeling with those teeth but the major stuff is out of the way and just in time for summer fun!

Pete, Jay and I all appreciate and thank you all for your prayers.  He only stayed in the hospital one night and although it was a long 36 hours at Dell Children's but we did get to go home late Wednesday.  Praise Jesus!

The first posted picture is from late Tuesday morning and the second is from Friday afternoon.  I think he bounced back faster than I did.

We thank God for our little guy and we're grateful his big surgery went so well.
Thank you to his talented and blessed team at Dell Children's:  Drs. Harshberger, Connolly and Seremetis.  Additional thanks to PA Chelsea, RN Mary B. and the RNs and CAs that took such good care of him while he was admitted.

Thanks for keeping up with us here.  Holler anytime in the comments.
