Certificate of Citizenship

It's official (once daddy signs it)!!  Proof of citizenship.  It came jammed in our apartment mailbox today.  Now we can start processing for Social Security numbers, passport, re-adoption and US issued birth certificate.  The paperwork for this process is never ending.

We also went for a jog.  It's the first time I've actually jogged with the jogger stroller my sister gave us.  I had Maddie in the basket underneath because she can't run with me anymore and Shades ran on his leash by my side (he's a good boy!).  Jay just chilled and watched everybody.  It was soooooooooooooooooo pretty outside you would NOT believe.  Temperature was mid-60's and so sunny I think I may have a little too much sun on my face.  We all loved being outside after it being so cold the last few days.

Tired Maddie

Maddie dog is tired from avoiding Jay. He's become more interested in the dogs and he can crawl FAST. So they move around a lot. Just when they get settled on a warm spot on the floor they have to move again. Poor babies.

Breakfast Jan 02, 2010

Breakfast pancakes from yesterday.
So here's Jay, I had already spoon fed him 1/2 of a pancake with a little syrup (low sugar). He was acting like he was still hungry so I gave him the other half with a little peanut butter on it.  Well that was fun!

He can get food to his mouth but only with his hands.  When I'm feeding him he gets upset if I don't do it fast enough.  Last night he ate Pete's leftover spaghetti that I put through the chopper, with cooked broccoli and a little spinach.  He really liked that!   He's having more regular movements and he's sleeping like a champ.  He's squirming and smiling and makes us laugh.  He likes to bang on his toys and wants to always hand you whatever he has.  There are only a few times during the day that he's being pissy but it's good to know that he has a strong personality.  We practice with him walking around the apartment and he's catching on fast.  It won't be long till he's chasing the dogs and I'm chasing him.

Jay had a successful visit to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.  We met with Dr. Heidi Schwarzwald who gave him the full business.  He had some shots and blood work.  She have me the referrals to Dell Children's Hospital in Austin.  She said they have a great cranio-facial team and felt comfortable with Jay having his surgery with this team.  I'll be contacting them next week and start getting evaluations.  I imagine he'll have surgery in 2-3 months.  He definitely has stage 3 cleft palate (through the hard and soft).  It doesn't slow him down eating much though.  He'll sometimes take a break and put his thumb in his mouth.  He'll move food around or get it unstuck.  He's amazing.  He has 4-6 teeth.  4 in front and a few coming in the back.  Hard to tell because you can only see when he's upside down and laughing.   They aren't quite coming in along the gum line just right and we don't know what that will mean for now but it does mean extensive orthodontia later along with speech therapy.  He'll also see an ped. ophthalmologist about his right eye ptosis.  He'll have to decide if it will correct itself or if we need to include that when he has his surgery.  He's tough though and we aren't worried (much).  God has carried Jay so far and I believe He will continue to bestow His Grace on him throughout his life.  Thank you to all our prayer warriors and we ask for you to keep Jay on your lists.

We're still looking for a house in Austin.  It's been the hardest!  We're lucky to be working with a VERY patient Realtor named Jason L. PLUG: LindenDwell.  He's shown us all over Austin and just really patient when we change our criteria and area of focus AGAIN.  I feel like we're getting closer to finding what we want.  Looks like we'll have to renew at our apartment and we're trying to convince them to make it shorter than a 6 month.  I want to be in a house by then!  Maddie and Shades are OVER this apartment.

Jay's the best!  :)   Hugs to everyone in blogville.
